RAMS 3.6 Rollout – Day Passes, PlainText Logbook Exports, Styling Improvements and More

The RAMS 3.6.+ updates roll out on the play store this week with some essential upgrades ahead of summer. This new release features design improvements, new logbook capabilities for Mariner, and the new day pass offering as an alternative to subscriptions.

RAMS (Road Air Marine Speedometers) is a range of mobile and wearable GPS Dashboards tailored specifically to different modes of transport; Velocity for land vehicles and Mariner for marine vessels.

Improved layouts and styling

To keep up with styling and functionality of Android 12, we’ve made routine improvements across the whole app, and better adapted the layouts for newer devices. The speedometer gauge is now more vibrant for better visibility from afar, and the other dashboard elements have been revised for easier operation and more clarity.

PlainText Logbook Exports (Mariner Only)

You can now export your logbook data in the new easily-readable plaintext export format (.txt). The header includes your overall journey statistics, and each of your log entries including position, heading, engine running time, and local weather data in your preferred sorting order.

This format was inspired by the cruise blog of M.V.Kevayling, which features JSON exports from Mariner on some of their trips. We included it to make it seamless for bloggers to present, and easier for audiences to read.
